There is a lot going on this week. Here are some highlights:
1. Meetings: There is a Lake Orion Community Schools Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the school's administration building, 315 N. Lapeer St. Also at 7 p.m. Wednesday, the Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at the Paint Creek Cider Mill Building.
2. Film screening at the library: There will be a screening of the film Amendment at the Rochester Hills Public Library at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Local filmmaker Tom Nahas produced the film, which was shot in Rochester, Mount Clemens and Holly.
3. Community Outlook luncheon: The Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland University. The topic of conversation will focus on how to succeed in 2012. Oakland Township Supervisor Joan Fogler, Rochester Mayor Stuart Bikson and Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett will speak at the event.
4. Job fair: A job hub will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday at Oakland University. Dozens of employers will be on-site, hiring individuals with a variety of skills, though the job fair caters to Information Technology and engineering-related professionals.
5. Last day to register: Thursday is the last day to register for the Parks and Recreation “Which Way Do I Go?” program at Lost Lake Nature Park. The program is scheduled from 4:30-6 p.m. Feb. 28. Attendees will learn to read a map and use a compass, then go on a snowshoe hike using the new skills they learned. Cost is $10 per student for resident and $12 for nonresidents. To register, call 248-651-7810, ext. 405.
