Sony may have revealed a future feature of their next-generation PS Vita handheld in the form of an upcoming firmware update.
Over the past several months, there was an immense level of hype and anticipation in regards to the release of the firmware 4.00 update to the Sony PS3.
When it was released though, gamers were largely disappointed as there were no major additions to the console, including no update to the interface which gamers were hoping for.
The next update though 4.01, may bring about some of the updates gamers were hyping for months.
During CES 2012, the Sony PS3 4.01 firmware was on display, and games noticed that the PS3 has a new tool in its arsenal, video editing.
It appears that video editing will be coming to the Sony PS3 in the next firmware update, and one would have to assume that it would also be coming to the Sony PS Vita.
This makes perfect sense for the handheld as it would allow users to make the most of the PS Vita cameras, using what they film to create videos on the handheld as well as on the Sony PS3 itself.
Sony has yet to confirm that video editing is coming to the PS Vita, but it would seem as if it would be a logical expansion of the capabilities of the handheld.
The rumors state that PlayMemories Studio will be the name of the video editing software.
What are your thoughts, would you use video editing on the PS3 and / or PS Vita if and when it becomes available?
