He may have got a dream platform to perform but the actor is quick to admit that it was not presented to him on a silver platter. “Acting has always been my passion. When I expressed this wish to my uncle (Arjun Sarja), he told me that he wouldn’t help me if I didn’t show him what I had to offer. So I went to an acting school, did theatre, learnt horse riding and trained really hard. Only then he was convinced,” Dhruva says.
Playing a college student in his maiden project, Dhruva says that he was involved in Addhuri during the scripting stage itself. He recollects how the used to make him practise his lines. “I had to learn a lot of dialogues. So even before the shooting began, I had memorised my lines and really got into the character,” he says.
Action was one field he knew he would have to excel in. So Dhruva lost around 30 kilos and brushed up his gymnastics skills.
“Being the nephew of ‘Action King’, people are going to expect a lot, especially action from me. I believe I have done a good job. I didn’t use any doubles and did the stunts myself.
In fact, for one stunt, I didn’t even use strings or any bedding to land,” he says proudly.
As for comparisons with his elder brother Chiranjeevi Sarja, Dhruva brushes it aside by saying, “I can never be compared to my brother. He is on a different level
altogether.”
Learning innovative things is what Dhruva is doing now. He wants to continue having the same commitment and involvement even for his upcoming movies. “The release of Addhuri is like the announcement of exam results. And I will eagerly wait to see what marks the
audience will give me,” he signs off.
