Where its traditional carols or "Boomwhackers," exhibitions or doing-it-yourself projects, the holiday spirit is alive and well this weekend. Here’s a look at selected holiday events happening this weekend (find more events when you visit EventTracker, our online communty calender):

Wonderland of Trees — Annual collection of decorated Christmas trees. This year’s theme is “Spirit of Christmas.” This year’s event is scheduled  through Jan. 7. 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. “Songs of the Season” Group Show — About 80 pieces by more than 25 artists are featured in four GO ART! galleries. On view at GO ART!, 201 East Main St., and The Senior Center, 2 Bank St., Batavia; and in Medina at Shirt Factory Cafe, 115 West Center St., and Leonard Oakes Estate Winery, 10609 Ridge Rd. Exhibits represent a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, pastels, photography and watercolor. In the Batavia galleries through Dec. 16, and through Jan. 2, 2012, in the two Medina Galleries. Artists receptions are scheduled for Dec. 2, from 5 to 7 .m. in the Batavia galleries, and 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Shirt Factory Cafe.

Corfu Friends of the Library Holiday Boutique — The Friends of the Corfu Free Library will hosts its annual Holiday Boutique from 2 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2 at the Library.  Something for everyone! Classic Film Series - “Twelve Films of Christmas” — Classic films are shown 7 p.m. every Thursday. From Dec. 1 through Jan. 5 the arts council is having a Christmas film festival. The series begins with “Miracle on 34th Street” (with Edmund Gwenn and Natalie Wood). Other selections include the comedy “Christmas in Connecticut” (Dec. 8), the animated “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Chistmas!” and the war-time epic “Battle of the Bulge” (Dec. 15), “The Nativity Story” (Dec. 22), “Holiday Inn” (Dec. 29), and “Remember the Night” (Jan. 5, 2012), with several other surprise offerings. Third Grade Chorus Holiday Concert — Third Grade Chorus performs winter and holiday songs, including those featuring the unusual sound of brightly-colored plastic tubes, called Boomwhackers. Holiday Decorating Symposium and Workshop — In the basket of greens you will take home will be blueberry juniper, pine boughs, spruce tips, boxwood and fir as well as pine cones and rose hips. In this class, you will learn how to decorate your holiday table, spin a handmade wreath and fill your windowbox with flair. Yuletide in the Country — The historic village will be all aglow with festively decorated homes. Tours last about 90 minutes and are offered the Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays the first three weekends of December. Scenes will re-enact yuletides past and they reveal many favorite Christmas customs. A buffet supper is also available from 4 to 8 p.m. For reservations, call (585) 538-6822. Christmas in the City Centre — Vendors, activities and entertainment scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 3. Santa and Mrs. Claus visit from 6-8 p.m. Friday and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Friday entertainment includes Jackson School Hand Bell Choir, Batavia Concert Band, the Blue Belles and Batavia Players. Taste of the Holidays — Friday activities begin with a tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. next to the banks of Castile and America. Activities from 6 to 9 p.m. including a holiday tasting featuring offerings from more than 10 area restaurants and entertainment by The OHMS Band. Saturday’s activities, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., include free children’s holiday activities and crafts, entertainment by Bart Dentino and Kevin Huber, McMahon School of Irish Dance, and horse and wagon rides. Tree Lighting Ceremony — A tree lighting ceremony is planned Dec. 2. At 6:45 p.m. Dec. 2, a fire truck will stop at Hickory Park to take Santa and Mrs. Claus to Zuber Park. Along the way, there will be caroling. At Zuber Park, the mayor will light the community Christmas tree. Hot chocolate nad cookies available. Santa will visit. Dec. 3

“Polar Express” — Event is scheduled Nov. 26 and 27, and Dec. 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18. Children and parents will board the train at the Museum and make tracks for the “North Pole,” a location set up somewhere along the rails where they will be greeted by Santa Claus and his elves. Santa will board the train and ride back to Medina. As in the movie, children are encouraged to wear pajamas. Hot chocolate will be served aboard the train and each child will receive a treat. Downtown Holiday Open House — Activities scheduled Dec. 3 and 4 for Brockport’s first Holiday Open House Weekend. A storytime and booksigning is scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 3 with Ron Mazzarella at Lift Bridge Books. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Lift Bridge plans games and crafts for children with Brockport State College’s Arts for Children Club. At 5 p.m. Sunday, the Holiday Parade of Lights Spectacular is featured on Main Street with floats, Santa Claus, caroling and tree lighting. Hot chocolate at St. Luke’s Church. Holly Trolley Rides — Enjoy a ride on an authentic 80-year-old electric trolley car, recalling another time when families rode the big interurban trolleys from their rural homes to do their holiday shopping in the city. Le Roy Winterfest Stroll through the Village — Downtown business invite shoppers to a “Stroll through the Village” as part of the village’s Winterfest on Dec. 3. The businesses on Main, Bank and Mill streets, along with the Moose Family Center on Bank Street, will offer full-card business bingo and prizes. Participants must visit all business and receive a stamp and each one, then turn in their card by 3 p.m. at the holiday bazaar. Cards will be available at all businesses. The Stroll runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The bazaar, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is raising money and food donations for the LCCP, the backpack fund, and the LeRoy food pantry.  All non perishable or canned goods donated receives one Chinese raffle ticket,which are also available for $1 each or three for $2. Gift wrapping available.  The LCCP will host a bake sale at the bazaar. Santa Claus due to stop at the Moose Center at 1 p.m. Other activities include an inflatable playground from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the firehall, and children‚Äôs activities at Woodward Memorial Library on Wolcott Street. WinterFest @ the library — Sat., Dec. 3 celebrate WinterFest at Woodward Memorial Library, 10 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. The film “Polar Express” will be shown from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Admission is free. “Two Christmas Tales: The Littlest Angel & Gift of the Magi” — “Two Christmas Tales: The Littlest Angel & Gift of the Magi” is based on the stories by Charles Tazewell and O. Henry. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3, 9 and 10 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 4, 10 and 11. Tickets for all shows are $11 general admission ($9 for students and seniors age 65 and older). 6th annual Merry Perry Holiday Home Tour — The 6th Annual Merry Perry Holiday Home Tour will begin with a reception featuring holiday treats and music at the historic Masonic Temple on Main Street.
